Minister of Transport of Russia visits the Nadezhda sailboat during the Eastern Economic Forum 2025

On September 4, Andrey Nikitin, Minister of Transport of Russia, visited the Nadezhda sailing training vessel, which is docked at the seaport of Vladivostok during the Eastern Economic Forum taking place from September 3 to 6.

The minister boarded the vessel to the sounds of an orchestra and was greeted by the crew, led by the ship's captain Sergey Vorobyov, and cadets. Andrey Nikitin was accompanied by his deputy Alexander Poshivay, head of Rosmorrechflot Andrey Tarasenko, and General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” Sergey Pylin.

The tour of the sailboat was conducted by the ship's captain, Sergey Vorobyov. He talked about the history of the frigate, which has sailed around the world and won numerous international regattas. The guests got an idea of the ship's structure, inspecting the upper deck, rigging, wheelhouse, and internal service and living quarters.

In addition, the captain reported on the current tasks facing the ship and its crew. First and foremost, this involved organizing sailing practice for cadets from Russian naval universities.

“There are currently 76 cadets from Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy on board. This is already the third training session this year; 173 students have earlier completed training on the sailboat”, the captain said.

He added that the sailboat makes a significant contribution to promoting maritime professions by inviting on board guests at festivals in coastal cities. In particular, on July 12-13, more than 5,000 residents and guests of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky visited the vessel.

The minister thanked Sergey Vorobyov for the interesting tour of the sailboat. He also spoke with the crew of the Nadezhda vessel and cadets, wishing them to become worthy sailors and shipbuilders, and left a message in the honor guests book.

The day before, the frigate was the main participant in the international EEF sailing parade in the Amur Bay. The Nadezhda sailboat led a fleet of more than 200 large and small sailing vessels. Residents and guests of the city watched the spectacular sight from the embankment of the Sports Harbor.
