FSUE “Rosmorport” put Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky VTS into trial operation on domestic software
FSUE “Rosmorport” has successfully completed work on putting into trial operation of a significant critical information infrastructure facility – the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky vessel traffic system (VTS) – using domestic equipment and software. The easternmost VTS in Russia became the fifth system in the country to operate entirely on Russian software.
As a result of the work carried out, the hardware has been upgraded and the information processing, display, and recording system (IPDRS) of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky VTS has been switched to the domestic software included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases. The launch of the VTS on domestic software is planned for June 2025.
The work was carried out as part of the replication of the IPDRS SiPort software developed by Sitronics JSC – a contractor, responsible for switching a number of the enterprise's facilities, including Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky VTS, to Russian software.
In order to verify the work performed under the contract, a working group from FSUE “Rosmorport”, headed by Deputy General Director Sergey Simonov, visited the Petropavlovsk Branch of the enterprise in May 2025.
The VTS team, in the presence of members of the working group, confirmed that the new software complied with the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Transport. During his visit, Sergey Simonov also held a production meeting with employees of the Petropavlovsk Branch, setting the team tasks aimed at completing work to fulfill the requirements of the Russian President's Decree on ensuring the technological independence and security of the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
The enterprise has already switched Arkhangelsk VTS, Makhachkala VTS, Astrakhan VTS, and Sochi VTS to domestic software, and is continuing to re-equip the remaining VTS's under its management.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky VTS was built using own funds of FSUE “Rosmorport” and modern technologies to improve maritime safety and navigation efficiency. The VTS was put into operation in 2024 and became the 25th system in the country managed by the enterprise.
In the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky VTS coverage area, guaranteed detection and continuous tracking of vessels in Avacha Bay and on approaches to it is carried out.
