The Khersones sailboat hold a solemn event on its 36th anniversary

The Khersones sailing training vessel of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Crimean Branch celebrated its 36th anniversary. On March 28, 1989, the sailboat was hoisted USSR state flag, and this date became the vessel's birthday.

On the occasion of the event on March 28, 2025 on the Khersones STV a solemn event was held, which was attended by the director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Crimean Branch Andrey Filchakov, the captain of the ship Alexander Onischenko, as well as Mikhail Sukhina, who was the captain of the sailing ship from 1991 to 2007.

The Khersones sailing training vessel is one of three training three-masted frigates of FSUE "Rosmorport". The vessel was built at the Gdansk shipyard by order of the USSR. The world fame of the frigate was brought by the expedition of 1996-1997, during which the vessel under the command of Captain Mikhail Sukhina under the sails with the engines off went around the southern point of Tierra del Fuego - Cape Horn, which is still considered a sinister place among sailors. During the campaign, which lasted 216 days, the sailboat passed 23 thousand miles, got into a strong storm, lost several sails, and on the way back was forced to bypass drifting ice fields.

Later, the sialboat set another record by rounding the Cape of Good Hope, which is also considered a top performance among seafarers.

Today, the Khersones STV is used for navigation practice by cadets of the leading Russian maritime educational institutions. The frigate also takes part in significant events in Sevastopol, the Republic of Crimea and Krasnodar Krai.
