FSUE “Rosmorport” supports publication of books for visually impaired children

FSUE “Rosmorport”, in cooperation with the Alexander Degen Illustrated Books for Small Blind Children Charitable Foundation, supported the publication of ten sets of books with a “Magic (Reading) Pencil”.

The books were donated by the enterprise as part of the Books as a Gift Program and were given to visually impaired children of Municipal Budgetary Pre-school Educational Institution No. 82 “Belochka” in Murmansk.

The editions are equipped with tactile inserts that allow you to touch various objects and determine the types of materials from which they are made, as well as interactive movable structures. The reading pencil allows you to listen to texts and music from the book pages.

Through the implementation of the charity project, visually impaired children will be able to explore the world more deeply in all its diversity and enhance their sensory experience. Specialized books help to develop speech, attention, thinking, memory and imagination of readers and introduce them to the world of culture and art.

The Alexander Degen Illustrated Books for Small Blind Children Charitable Foundation was established in 1994. The Foundation's project to produce special colour illustrated books for visually impaired children is included in the program of the United Nations and UNESCO World Decade for Cultural Development.

Since its establishment, the foundation has published 162 titles of books, which have been received by more than 220,000 children in 89 regions of our country. Russian artists and designers are involved in the publication of books, taking into account the recommendations of teachers and medical specialists. The books are produced with the use of modern digital and printing technologies (reading pencil, volumetric constructions, embossed seal, textured varnishes, flock, foil).
