The first icebreaker assistance in 2024-2025 winter navigation season was performed on December 12, 2024 in the water area of the seaport of Kandalaksha (Murmansk region). The Kapitan Chadaev icebreaker of FSUE “Rosmorport” ensured the passage of the WL ATLANTIC bulk carrier heading out of the seaport of Kandalaksha.

The period of icebreaker assistance for vessels was declared in the seaport of Kandalaksha starting from December 4, 2024. Restrictions on ice navigation were imposed due to the stable ice formation in order to ensure the safety of navigation.

After finishing the ice operation, the Kapitan Chadaev icebreaker will proceed to the seaport of Arkhangelsk, where it will be operating in the winter navigation season that has begun together with the Kapitan Evdokimov icebreaker.

Icebreaker assistance in the White Sea from the ice edge to the water area of the seaports of Arkhangelsk and Kandalaksha this season is planned to be carried out by the Dikson icebreaker.

The beginning of the icebreaker assistance period in the water area of the seaport of Arkhangelsk was declared starting from December 5, however, at the moment, due to weather conditions, there is no need to provide icebreaker assistance for vessels entering and leaving the seaport.

FSUE “Rosmorport” provides icebreaker assistance for vessels in the water areas of 16 freezing seaports of Russia and on the approaches to them. Currently, the diesel-electric icebreaking flotilla of the enterprise, the largest one in the world, includes 35 icebreakers and ice-class tugs.
