FSUE "Rosmorport" successfully completes the technical re-equipment of the Magadan Sea Area A1 and A2 GMDSS coastal stations and Magadan NAVTEX coast station

FSUE "Rosmorport" has completed the technical re-equipment of the Magadan Sea Area A1 and A2 Global Maritime Disaster Communication System (GMDSS) coastal stations and the Magadan NAVTEX coastal station.

The work was carried out by the North-Eastern Basin Branch in the period from December 2021 to September 2024. In accordance with the technical re-equipment project, automated operator workstations, antenna-feeder equipment, receivers and transmitters of the Magadan Sea Area A1 and A2 GMDSS coastal stations and the Magadan NAVTEX coastal station have been updated. Outdated and out-of-service equipment has been replaced with modern domestic equipment of domestic.

To ensure the reliability of the system, backup of GMDSS technical means is provided. The updated monitoring system provides for remote monitoring of the status of alarm systems, automatic fire extinguishing, power supply systems, and climatic parameters.

The Magadan Sea Area A1 GMDSS coastal station has an estimated range of 20 nautical miles. The estimated range of the Magadan Sea Area A2 GMDSS coastal stations is 151 nautical miles. They are used to carry out continuous radio surveillance and radio exchange with ships in distress, as well as with vessels participating in search and rescue operations in the VHF and midrange radio frequency bands of the maritime mobile service using digital selective calling and in radiotelephony mode. The radio stations provide operational radiotelephone communication between vessels and the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky sea rescue subcenter of the FSBI Morspassluzhba for the organization of search and rescue operations.

The Magadan NAVTEX coastal station, in turn, serves to transmit information on the safety of navigation, including navigation and meteorological information, and is a component of the GMDSS and has an estimated range of 183 nautical miles. The information is distributed in text mode (narrowband letter printing mode).

The data received from the Hydrographic Service of the Pacific Fleet, Roshydromet and the FSBI Morspassluzhba, after processing, are formed into the NAVTEX message feed. The transmission of the message feed takes place in accordance with the accepted schedule, and very urgent information is distributed outside the transmission schedule.

To control the completeness of the transmitted messages, a NAVTEX control receiver is provided, installed next to the operator's workplace.
