After the long break due to the absence of settled international legal regime of foreign vessels navigation in the Russian part of the lagoon, merchant shipping on the Vistula Lagoon was resumed.

Formal difficulties were resolved by signing the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Poland Republic about navigation on the Vistula Lagoon on September, 1st, 2009 in Sopot.

Practical realization of the reached arrangements begun in June, 2010 when the Polish towboat “Bizon” delivered the barge with the Russian coal, loaded in the seaport of Kaliningrad to the Polish seaport Elblong.
