On March 25-26, 2022, icebreaker Kapitan Metsayk of FSUE “Rosmorport” took part in the operation to set two vessels afloat in the waters of the Volga-Caspian seaway channel. The Gueroy Rossii Pyatnitskih and JAHAN 1 were stranded outside the navigation channel due to navigation errors and strong wind.

The operation was carried out under adverse meteorological conditions of strong winds and surges, as well as variable visibility. After the measures were carried out, the vessels proceeded to their previously planned routes.

The crew of the icebreaker Kapitan Metsayk was awarded a commendation for efficient and well-coordinated work in difficult conditions.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan branch plans to carry out repair dredging works in the water area of the Volga-Caspian seaway channel in the volume of 7 million cubic meters in order to maintain rated dimensions of the channel and ensure safe navigation of vessels. The fleet is ready for continuous operation during navigation. In addition, it is planned to strengthen the forces of the branch's dredging facilities by engaging partner companies' vessels.
