The Mir sailboat takes part in the maritime festival Sails of the World in Kaliningrad for the second time

On August 24-25, the immersive maritime festival Sails of the World took place for the second time this summer in the Kaliningrad Sea Fishing Port.

The calling of the sailing training vessel Mir (which means “world”) of FSUE “Rosmorport” at the port became the main event of the festival. For two days, the vessel took on board guests wishing to get acquainted with the sailors' life. The research vessel Akademik Ioffe, moored in the port, was also open for public. Over 5 thousand people visited the festival for two days.

FSUE “Rosmorport” and independent non-profit organization Sails of the World prepared a large entertainment and educational program for the participants, aimed at popularization of maritime professions, which included master classes on tying sea knots from the chief boatswain of the Mir sailboat, a sports event with the show performed by cadets of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, games and contests for children.

During the festival, the sailboat took on board children from the LPR – representatives of a young guides club of the Kirov Museum of Local History and the Lugansk Museum of History and Art. Another excursion around the vessel for children was organized in the context of cooperation with the charity fund Bereg Nadezhdy (The Coast of Hope).

At the end of the festival, there was a conference with the captain of the Mir sailboat Andrey Orlov, during which he answered all questions about working at sea.
