Icebreaker assistance completed in the seaports of Magadan, Arkhangelsk and Kandalaksha water areas
The icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” completed providing assistance for vessels in the seaports of Arkhangelsk and Kandalaksha in the White Sea and in the seaport of Magadan in the Sea of Okhotsk.
The end of the icebreaker assistance period was announced by the orders of the captains of the seaports following the improvement of weather conditions and ice cover destruction: in the waters of the seaports of Magadan and Kandalaksha and on the approaches to them – from May 1, in the waters of the seaport of Arkhangelsk – from May 4.
Icebreaking operations in the waters of the seaport of Magadan and on approaches to it were carried out by the Moskva icebreaker of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch. Having finished all operations, the vessel returned to the seaport of Vladivostok on May 5. The icebreaker arrived on duty at the seaport of Magadan at the end of December 2023, and provided its first assistance by leading method in January 2024.
Kapitan Chadaev and Kapitan Evdokimov icebreakers of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch provided icebreaker assistance for vessels in the seaport of Arkhangelsk and on approaches to it starting from the end of November 2023.
In the completed season, the Dikson and Novorossiysk icebreakers of the FSUE "Rosmorport" Arkhangelsk Branch and North-Western Basin Branch accordingly carried out pilotage of vessels in the White Sea, as well as those proceeding to the seaport of Kandalaksha and back.
Currently, the Dikson icebreaker continues to operate in the White Sea, providing assistance for vessels proceeding to the seaport of Arkhangelsk and backwards.
Earlier, the enterprise finished icebreaker assistance in the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, in the waters of the seaport of Vanino, the largest seaport in the Khabarovsk Territory, and on approaches to it, as well as in the Azov Sea and Caspian Sea. The largest icebreaking flotilla of the enterprise includes 34 icebreakers and ice-class tugs.
