Residents and guests of St. Petersburg have a chance to visit icebreakers of the FSUE “Rosmorport” in the framework of the City Day celebration

Three icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport”, Kapitan Sorokin, Kapitan Kosolapov and Murmansk, will take part in the annual grandiose event – the Icebreaker Festival, which will be held in St. Petersburg, May 30 to June 2, 2024. This year, the festival, which has no analogues in the world, will be held for the 10th time. This event is included in the draft citywide plan of events dedicated to the celebration of the City Day – the day of the foundation of St. Petersburg, and is included in the top of the Unified Calendar of the city events.

The enterprise's icebreakers will be moored at the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment on Vasilyevsky Island and open to the public throughout the festival days. Visitors will be able to come on the decks of the icebreakers and get acquainted with the unique engineering structures of these vessels and the way of life on board. The traditional waltz of tugboats on the Neva river will be a bright accent of the festival. During the unique “dance” the tugboats will spin synchronously, releasing powerful water fountains.

A distinctive feature of the jubilee Icebreaker Festival is the new family format. In 2024, declared the Year of the Family by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a wide educational and entertainment program for parents and children will be prepared. The dates of this year’s festival will include the International Children's Day, which will also be accompanied by a festive program.

The festival with the participation of FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers has been held in the Northern capital annually since 2014. In 2023, the company's icebreakers were visited by more than 10 thousand guests. The main goal of the event is to show the status of Russia as a great maritime power, and St. Petersburg as its maritime capital, as well as to promote the development of family tourism. According to the data provided by the Administration of St. Petersburg, in the last three years alone, the share of travelers in this category has increased in the total tourist flow by almost 15 % and has reached 53 % by the current time.
