Equipment of the Arkhangelsk VTS switched to domestic software

FSUE “Rosmorport” has completed work on the migration of the Arkhangelsk Vessel Traffic System (VTS) technical equipment to domestic software.

As a result of the work, the hardware was updated and the information processing, display and registration system (IPDRS) of the Arkhangelsk VTS was switched to the Russian software included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases.

The activities were carried out pursuant to the Decree of the President of Russia “On Measures to Ensure Technological Independence and Security of the Critical Information Infrastructure of the Russian Federation”, the Methodological Recommendations on the Migration to the Russian Software, Including at Significant Facilities of the Critical Information Infrastructure of the Russian Federation, approved by the Ministry for Digital Technology of Russia order and the FSUE “Rosmorport” plan on the migration to the Russian software at the critical information infrastructure facilities of the Russian Federation for 2022-2024.

IPDRS is a specialized software and hardware complex designed to perform such functions of the vessel traffic management service as information support for navigation, organization of vessel traffic and assistance in navigation. With the help of the system, the technical means (sensors) included in the VTS are operated, electronic navigation maps, radar information, AIS targets are displayed, Automatic Radar Plotting Aids targets are displayed and tracked, and alarms and warnings about dangerous situations, target movement forecasting, messaging with vessels equipped with AIS transponders, archiving and playback navigation situation data is carried out.

To replace the hardware of the IPDRS, technical means included in the Register of Russian Radio Electronic Products were used.

The work on the migration to domestic software is carried out under the management of Sergey Pylin, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”. In the near future, FSUE “Rosmorport” plans to replace foreign software on all VTS of the enterprise.

For reference:

FSUE “Rosmorport”, as a backbone enterprise that ensures the safety of navigation in the waters of Russian seaports, is actively working to replace foreign software at significant facilities of critical information infrastructure. In particular, after most software and hardware manufacturers from unfriendly countries left Russia in 2022, FSUE “Rosmorport” was forced to look for alternative products and solutions to replace software that was not included in the registry and was used for the system of processing, displaying and registering information generated by the VTS for stable operation and functioning of the IT infrastructure.
