On October 13, within the framework of the VII Pacific Legal Forum “Turn to the East: trends in changing institutions of Law and state in the era of globalization and digitalization”, the Amur Tiger Center, in partnership with FSUE “Rosmorport”, organized a scientific-practical conference “Current problems of biodiversity protection legislation in the South of the Russian Far East”.

During the Center conference, participants discussed the results of the Far Eastern Operational Customs work on the suppression of flora and fauna objects smuggling, issues of hunting users and indigenous peoples' activities for the preservation of the Amur tiger, problems of legislation in the field of protection of wildlife objects, environmental and economic risks associated with imperfection of forest planning documents, and other relevant topics related to legislative regulation protection of biodiversity. At the end of the conference, FSUE “Rosmorport” presented the participants with promotional souvenirs - blankets and hoodies with the anniversary symbols of the enterprise and the logo of the Center.

The Pacific Legal Forum with the participation of the Amur Tiger Center was held in Vladivostok on the basis of the Law School of the Far Eastern Federal University. The event, which brought together more than 300 specialists from leading universities in Russia and the Asia-Pacific countries, is devoted to the main trends in changing state-legal doctrine in the era of global digital challenges and the dominance of the Eastern vector of development. A plenary session and nine specialized conferences were held during the forum.

Sergey Aramilev, the Amur Tiger Center General Director, spoke at the opening ceremony of the Pacific Legal Forum. In his welcoming speech he noted that the initiatives announced at the event site are turning into real normative legal acts.

“The Forum is a great opportunity to conduct an audit and an independent assessment of regulatory legal acts, including legal acts in the field of nature protection,” he said.

For reference:

Since 2022, FSUE “Rosmorport” has been providing assistance to the Amur Tiger Center in the implementation of projects on studying and preservation of the rare predator population. In 2023, the company helped to purchase an all-terrain vehicle “Vepr V5” for the Protection, Control and Regulation of the Wildlife Objects Usage Department of Primorsky Region and deliver it to Ussuriysk.

The Amur tiger is one of the rarest subspecies of the tiger, the largest on the planet and the only one adapted to life in harsh winter conditions. It is included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and the International Red Book. Only about 600 individuals of these predators live in the wild nature of Russia.
