The North-Western Basin Branch joins the “ROSMORPORT – 20 years in the right direction!” campaign

The anniversary campaign “ROSMORPORT – 20 years in the right direction!” was held in the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch. Employees of the branch installed flags with the anniversary symbols of the enterprise on various unique geographical sites of St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions.

The Kaliningrad Department of the North-Western Basin Branch was the first to pick up the baton from its colleagues from other regions. 24 employees in branded outfits made a bicycle ride from the resort town of Zelenogradsk to the village of Zaostrovye on Cape Gvardeysky, where in 2023 a 61-meter tower of automatic radar technical post No. 5 (ARTP-5) was erected as part of the project for the reconstruction of the Kaliningrad Vessel Traffic System. The participants covered a 20-kilometer route along the Baltic Sea to install 3x4 m flags with the anniversary symbols of the enterprise on the ARTP-5 tower, which is under the operational management of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

Cape Gvardeysky is situated on the northern coast of the Kaliningrad Peninsula and juts into the Baltic Sea. At the end of the XV – beginning of the XVI century, the first lighthouse was built on the cape. In 1979, a 40-meter lighthouse of the same name with a fire visibility range of 18 miles appeared. Currently, the ARTP-5 tower is the highest facility above sea level of the Kaliningrad Department, located on the sea coast of the region.

Then employees of the North-Western Basin Branch joined the action. 8 participants of the event made a car trip through picturesque places of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to the Raskat RTP of the Saint-Petersburg Vessel Traffic System, located in Old Peterhof.

The 77 m high radio mast is a dominant feature on the southern shore of the Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland, and it has rightfully become a visiting card of Peterhof and a favorite photo spot for tourists and locals. The Raskat RTP was built in the early 2000s to replace the coastal radar station installed in 1960 for information processing and interaction with vessels in the Gulf of Finland water area and related services. Considering meteorological conditions, for safety reasons, the team decided to hang the corporate flag with the anniversary symbols on the radio mast at a height of 46 meters.

The Ust-Luga Department of the North-West Basin Branch completed the series of events. A group of 15 employees in branded outfits traveled by corporate vehicle from the administrative building of the department to the Kurgalsky Peninsula - the location of Pihlisaar No. 1459 light beacon on Cape Pihlisaar. The participants of the campaign covered 26 km in 4 cars and then walked 3 km on foot through the forest.

The light beacon, which is under the operational management of FSUE “Rosmorport”, is situated in the north-western part of the peninsula. The participants had to overcome the last and most difficult part of the way to the site where the flags were installed through a swampy forest area. A flag with the anniversary symbols of the “ROSMORPORT – 20 years in the right direction!” campaing was installed on the 25.2 m high light beacon, which was built in 1960 and is serviced by the Ust-Luga Department of the North-Western Basin Branch. The range of daytime visibility (geographical) is 14 nautical miles. A mesmerizing panorama of the Baltic Sea opened up to the participants from this viewpoint.

The “ROSMORPORT – 20 years in the right direction!” campaign is dedicated to the anniversary of the FSUE “Rosmorport” activity. It started in Makhachkala and covers all regions where the largest titular owner of coastal and port infrastructure facilities and service and auxiliary fleet operates - from Kaliningrad to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The campaign is another confirmation of the key role of FSUE “Rosmorport” in ensuring navigation safety in the water areas of 59 out of 63 Russian seaports and on approaches to them and contributes to the popularization of domestic tourism.
