FSUE “Rosmorport” delivers the fifth vessel to the Seaport of Ust-Luga – seaport of Kaliningrad line

The Baltiysk ferry has started operating on the Seaport of Ust-Luga – seaport of Kaliningrad line under the management of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

Previously, the vessel was operated by Oboronlogistica LLC.

The Baltiysk ferry will be used for the sea transportation of railway wagons with cargo. The cargo capacity of the vessel allows to transport from 70 to 130 railway wagons, depending on the type of wagons and the distance between the couplings of wagons. The ferry can also carry up to 118 trucks or up to 325 motor vehicles (up to 5 m long) and 12 passengers, who are accommodated in 6 double cabins.

Using the Baltiysk ferry, it is planned to increase the volume of cargo turnover on the line by reducing the waiting time for cargo delivery to the Kaliningrad Region and back.

In the first half of 2023, the ferries Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky, multifunctional vessels Sparta and Sparta II, operating on the Seaport of Ust-Luga – Seaport of Kaliningrad line, performed 191 voyages and transported 679 thousand tons of cargo, including 6.8 thousand wagons (loaded and empty), 6.9 thousand units of rolling equipment, 9.2 thousand tons of general cargo, 12.7 thousand TEU (loaded and empty containers).

The total volume of coastal shipping to and from the Kaliningrad Region for 6 months of 2023 amounted to 1.6 million tons. The enterprise's fleet provided 42 % of the total volume of traffic in this direction.
