FSUE “Rosmorport” completes repair dredging in the seaport of Shakhtersk

FSUE “Rosmorport” has completed repair dredging works in the inner water area and the approach channel in the seaport of Shakhtersk.

The dredging was carried out according to the design documentation “Execution of repair dredging works in the seaport of Shakhtersk with arrangement of underwater (sea) and coastal soil dumping for a period of ten years. Correction”, which received a positive conclusion of the state environmental assessment. Throughout the entire period of work, specialists of the Sakhalin branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography monitored fish spawning run.

The works were carried out with the enterprise's own fleet. The dredging fleet included a non-self-propelled dredger Primorets, a self-propelled scow Nevskaya, a tugboat Viktor Olenich and a non-self-propelled barge M-350.

As a result of the repair dredging, the approach channel has been brought to navigation depths of 5.3 m allowing entry of vessels with a draft of 3.2 m, which will ensure navigation safety and contribute to the stable cargo turnover in the seaport. There will be a survey of the project batch to certify the achievement of the design depths.

Navigation in the seaport of Shakhtersk has seasonal nature, since the port is freezing. It starts with the end of the ice drift and stops with the appearance of ice formation. The capacity of the seaport is about 11 million tons per year.
