On April 12, Head of the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) Zakhary Dzhioev paid a working visit to the Astrakhan Region. During this visit, Head of Rosmorrechflot inspected the progress of dredging operations in all sites of the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal (VCSSC).

Sergey Pylin, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”, Nikolay Kovalev, Acting Head of FSBI “Administration of the Caspian Sea Seaports”, and Alexander Kim, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch, also took part in the business trip.

During the visit to VCSSC, Zakhary Dzhioev met with the captains - dredge masters of the vessels involved in dredging this year, and discussed in detail the work of each dredger. After that, Head of Rosmorrechflot held a meeting with the senior management of the seaport of Olya on the issue of navigation conditions at the VCSSC, as well as with the heads of contractors involved in dredging at the VCSSC.

At the moment, 9 dredgers are working at VCSSC, including the FSUE “Rosmorport” vessels: Pyotr Sablin, Artemiy Volynsky, Ivan Cheremisinov, Kronshlot and Severo-Zapadny-503, as well as the dredgers involved by the enterprise: Arkady Kardakov, Professor Lukin, Moguchiy and Donskoy-701. In the coming days, the Urengoy dredger of the enterprise and two vessels, Belyana and Kaspiy, involved by FSUE “Rosmorport”, are planned to start working at the dredging site of the VCSSC.

12 million cubic meters of repair dredging is planned for 2023 at the VCSSC. In total, up to 18 dredgers will be used to carry out work throughout the VCSSC this year. As a result, the passage of vessels with a draft of at least 4.5 m, indicated in the instructions of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, with the preservation of certain sections of one-way traffic of vessels will be ensured by the end of 2023.
