Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker arrived at the seaport of Vanino to provide icebreaker assistance

The Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch arrived at the seaport of Vanino on February 8. The vessel will strengthen the composition of the icebreaking fleet and will provide icebreaking services for vessels going to and leaving the specified seaport during the winter navigation period of 2022-2023.

All the technical characteristics of the icebreaker fully comply with the working conditions during the winter navigation in the Tatar Strait, and the qualified crew is ready to perform tasks for the safe pilotage of vessels.

Prior to arriving at the seaport of Vanino, Captain Khlebnikov, since January 10, in coordination with the headquarters of icebreaker assistance, carried out the pilotage of large-capacity tankers to the seaport of De-Kastri.

In addition to Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker, the Magadan icebreaker has been operating in the seaport of Vanino, which has been on duty since January 15. For almost a month of work, Magadan has provided about 80 piloting operations of vessels to the entrance to the seaport of Vanino and back.

Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker was taken over under economic management by of FSUE “Rosmorport” in 2016. The vessel annually conducts pilotage of vessels in difficult ice conditions, including several voyages to the Arctic and Antarctica. During the ice navigation period of 2021-2022, the icebreaker took part in an Antarctic expedition, during which it conducted three vessels that delivered cargo for the Russian scientific station Vostok. Also special personnel arrived at the station on board the Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker.
