Icebreaker assistance season begins in the seaport of Arkhangelsk and on approaches to it

The first icebreaker assistance took place in the water area of the Northern Dvina River during the winter navigation 2022/23. On December 5, the Kapitan Evdokimov icebreaker provided assistance for the Dvina tanker, proceeding to the seaport of Arkhangelsk.

Stable ice formation in the seaport of Arkhangelsk began on November 20, and a solid ice cover was formed by November 26.

By order of the captain of the seaport of Arkhangelsk, the beginning of the icebreaking period 2022/23 was announced in the water area of the seaport from December 1, 2022. At present, the ice thickness in the seaport waters is 10-15 cm.

Also, by order of the captain, an icebreaking assistance headquarters was created, and representatives of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk branch became part of it. If necessary, captains of icebreakers providing assistance in the water area of the seaport of Arkhangelsk will be involved in the activities of the headquarters.

Two icebreakers of the enterprise, Kapitan Evdokimov and Kapitan Chadaev, will operate in the water area of the seaport of Arkhangelsk in the current icebreaker assistance season. The Dikson and Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreakers will provide assistance for vessels in the water area of the White Sea and the seaport of Kandalaksha this season. The icebreakers are ready to provide assistance for vessels.
