Career Day held at the leading transport university in Russia, FSUE “Rosmorport” participating

On October 26, employees of FSUE “Rosmorport” took part in the Career Day traditionally organized by the Russian University of Transport. The event is attended by well-known domestic and international companies - transport industry leaders and systemic enterprises, government agencies and representatives of personnel projects. Thus, last year FSUE “Rosmorport” was declared the winner of the Rosmorrechflot “Industry Leader” competition in two categories at once: “Organization Providing Services in the Field of Shipping (Marine/River)” and “Subject of Transport Infrastructure in the Field of Transport Security”.

For companies, the Career Day is an opportunity to present their brand directly to young professionals – potential job seekers, present internship and leadership programs, and talk about part-time student employment projects. For students, such format is useful because they can ask questions to representatives of enterprises in an informal setting, attend experts' lectures and even receive a real job offer.

“The forum has just opened, and two people have already given me their contacts,” says Maria Volkovskaya, Chief Officer of the Personnel Development Office of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Organizational and Personnel Department. “Today FSUE “Rosmorport” is a unitary enterprise consisting of the central office and 14 branches. There are subsidiaries, including the Lenmorniiproekt Design Institute and the Onego Shipyard. There are 8,900 employees in 24 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The specialties in demand at our enterprise are, first of all, ship drivers, ship engineers, hydraulic engineers, marine surveyors, communication professionals, and navigational aid experts.”

There were booklets about the enterprise's activities, corporate promotional materials and gift-books available for students at the booth of FSUE “Rosmorport”. For a deeper dive into the specifics of the FSUE “Rosmorport” activities, a model of the world's largest and most powerful non-atomic icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin, which successfully completed ice trials in the Arctic this summer, was presented at the enterprise's own exhibition.

“Our enterprise is successfully implementing the Regulations on Young Professionals, which defines the status of a young professional and the shadowing process, provides guarantees and compensation for commuting expenses, as well as rental housing for the period of validity of the status of a young professional,” says Natalia Dedushkina, a consultant and the authorized representative of the employees.

It should be noted that in order to enhance the prestige of maritime industry professions, the branches of FSUE “Rosmorport” cooperate on a permanent basis with specialized educational organizations for work practice on training vessels in the Far Eastern Basin Branch, North-Western Basin Branch and Crimean Branch of the enterprise. In 2021, about 2,400 students had work, pre-degree and sailing practices.
