FSUE "Rosmorport" congratulates the "Orlyonok" children's center on its anniversary

On July 12, 2022, the Russian children's center "Orlyonok", which this summer opened its doors for 3,000 children from different regions of Russia for the seventh shift, celebrated its 62nd anniversary.

The FSUE "Rosmorport" prepared several pleasant surprises for the children's center. According to a good tradition, the legendary sailing ship Khersones arrived to congratulate the "Orlyonok" on its anniversary. On the eve of the holiday, the frigate entered the water area of the "Orlyonok" under scarlet sails and called at a roadstead near the "Shtormovoy" children's camp. Sightseeing tours around the vessel were organized for the participants of the seventh thematic shift. The children saw the sailboat from a close distance, greeted the crew and took memorable photos against the background of the frigate.

Vasily Strugov, deputy General director for the fleet of the FSUE "Rosmorport", took part in the solemn events of the Russian children's center. He congratulated the participants of the "My Port" project on the successful completion of learning the basics of maritime professions, presenting young sailors with diplomas and souvenirs - slap watches with the symbols of the FSUE "Rosmorport" and the RCC "Orlyonok". As a thank you, the children sang the song "The "Shtormovoy" ship".

As part of the closing celebratory assembly of the shift, Vasily Strugov made a congratulatory speech on the anniversary of the "Orlyonok", expressing gratitude to the employees and management of the center for professionalism, selfless work and invaluable contribution to the education of children, and also addressed the younger generation:

"Maritime affairs is one of the areas that you can try in the children's center. A lot of professionals who are developing the industry today are yesterday’s teenagers who dreamed about the sea. This passion for sailing arises in childhood and remains throughout the life."

"Dear children! Now you are experiencing unforgettable moments that I am sure you will remember as adults. Get everything from these few days while the shift is still going on. Be open, be brave, and may luck accompany you in all your endeavors! Fair winds and following seas!" Vasily Strugov said, ending his speech.

The assembly ended with the initiation ceremony, at which the children were awarded the badges of the RCC "Orlyonok".

For reference:

On July 12, 1960, the RCC "Orlyonok", one of the most famous children's centers in Russia, opened its doors. Back then, 62 years ago, the first and only camp lasted for 45 days. More than 500 little octobrists and pioneers lived in tents within the territory of the camp and joined the completion of construction work: they helped to clean up garbage, planted flowers and trees. In the evenings they would sit around the campfire and sing to the guitar, laugh and dream.

More than a dozen years have passed, and the RCC "Orlyonok" continues to receive children from different parts of our country and abroad every year. Now, over just one summer shift, the center opens its doors to 3,000 schoolchildren, in winter this number is reduced to eight hundred.
