FSUE "Rosmorport" will help the Amur tiger

FSUE "Rosmorport", in cooperation with the Amur Tiger Center, will help preserve and increase the population of the Amur tiger, the largest predator from the feline family, whose number has decreased 33 times over the past century.

The company plans to support the projects of the Amur Tiger Center for nature protection in the south of the Far East. The funds allocated by the enterprise to the center will be used to strengthen the fight against poaching in the Amur tiger area, provide equipment for groups to resolve conflict situations between large predators and humans, support specially protected natural areas, as well as carry out measures to improve environmental literacy of the population in the habitat of the predator.

"Charity and concern for the environment form the basis of the values of FSUE "Rosmorport". Demonstrating a responsible attitude to the environment, the company designs new vessels capable of operating on LNG, implements compensatory measures aimed at preserving the biodiversity of reservoirs, and also regularly participates in environmental projects, – said Alexander Smirnov, first deputy General director of FSUE "Rosmorport", – Participation in the Amur Tiger Center project is the contribution of FSUE "Rosmorport" to preserving a unique representative of the animal world of our country – an indicator of the ecological state of the Far East," he added.

"We are glad that another strong domestic company has joined the team of the Amur Tiger Center. Thanks to this, we will be able to increase efforts aimed at preserving the wildlife of the south of the Far East and increase their effectiveness," commented Sergey Aramilev, general director of the Amur Tiger Center. "We hope that FSUE "Rosmorport" will join the close-knit team of organizations that support the conservation of the tiger on a permanent basis."

For reference:

The Amur tiger is one of the rarest subspecies of the tiger, the largest and the only one adapted to life in harsh winter conditions. It is listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and the International Red Book. More than 600 individuals of these predators live in the wild nature of Russia.

The autonomous non-profit organization "Center for the Study and Conservation of the Amur Tiger Population" was established by the Geographical Society in 2013 on the initiative of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

The mission of the Center is to preserve the Amur tiger population, increase its number, and establish harmonious relations between a tiger and a man.
