FSUE "Rosmorport" took part in the sailing regatta for the Day of the marine and river fleet workers

FSUE "Rosmorport" traditionally became a participant of the sailing regatta, which took place at the Khimki reservoir on the eve of the Day of the marine and river fleet workers. The competition was held with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport, as well as the PROyachting company in accordance with the regulations and rules of the races of the All-Russian Sailing Federation.

In total, eleven crews took part in the competition, including the teams of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport and its subordinate organizations. The official start of the regatta was given by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Alexander Poshivai. He congratulated all the participants on their professional holiday and wished them success in the upcoming tournament, and after the opening ceremony took part in the competition, leading the team of the Ministry of Transport.

According to the results of the competition, the team of FSUE "Rosmorport" took the fifth place, the first place was given to the team of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The participating teams competed on high-speed sailing yachts of the J70 class, capable of reaching speeds of up to 20 knots (36 km/h). Each sailboat has 4-5 riders and a skipper.

Success in yacht racing depends on the teamwork of the team members. Weather conditions also make an important contribution: almost any wind for such yachts, even squally, is quite acceptable, but calm can become a serious hindrance.

A sailing regatta is a series of races in which crews are given a start within five minutes. With the opening of the starting procedure, the teams enter the route. The task of the race is not only to finish ahead of rivals, but also to go the distance according to certain rules. So, any contact with a buoy or another yacht is punished by the judges with a 360-degree turn. The length of the distance, depending on the strength of the wind and its direction, can vary from 1 to 2.5 miles.
