New dual-fuel ferry General Chernyakhovsky for the line Ust-Luga - Baltiysk passes the navigation tests

The "green" dual-fuel car-train ferry General Chernyakhovsky has passed navigation tests of CNF19M project for line Ust-Luga - Baltiysk, strategically important for Russia under the transit ban for some cargoes transported through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region.

The ferry is being built by order of the FSUE "Rosmorport" within the framework of the state program "Socio-economic development of the Kaliningrad region". The vessel is designed for the transport of railway trains with the gauge as per the Russian standard, and other rolling cargos.

The deployment of the General Chernyakhovsky is expected in the autumn of this year.

The introduction of the new vessel will improve the transport security of the Kaliningrad region and ensure the transfer of goods necessary for domestic consumption.

The CNF19M project complies with all modern standards for ensuring environmental safety. Engines run on liquefied natural gas or low sulfur diesel fuel.

In March 2022, Marshall Rokossovsky, a ferry of the same project with similar technical characteristics, was launched on the line Ust-Luga - Baltiysk in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
