The period of icebreaking assistance for vessels in the Gulf of Finland has ended

Icebreaking assistance in the Gulf of Finland began in December 2021 during the period of the last navigation. Due to the improvement of the ice situation, the period of icebreaking assistance was completed on April 28, 2022.

During the ice navigation period of 2021-2022, FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers provided pilotage for almost 3.5 thousand vessels in the waters of the seaports of Big Port Saint Petersburg, Vyborg, Vysotsk, Primorsk, Ust-Luga and on the approaches to them, which is 1.5 times more than a year earlier. The increase in the number of icebreaking assistance was caused by the early onset of ice formation in the Gulf of Finland and a long period of icebreaking assistance.

In total, 11 FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers, including the world's largest diesel-electric icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin, successfully operated in the waters of the Baltic Sea in the past season.
