FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers complete ice outburst works on the Severnaya Dvina River

The FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers – the Kapitan Evdokimov and the Kapitan Chadaev – have completed ice outburst works on the Severnaya Dvina River in the Arkhangelsk Region. The works were carried out in the second half of April under a contract with the Federal State Institution “Dvinaregionvodkhoz”.

On April 26, Alexander Tsybulsky, Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, took part in the events on ice floes destruction. Together with Vladimir Sedykh, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk branch, and General Shakhobiddin Vakkosov, Head of the Chief Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Arkhangelsk Region, he supervised the work in the area between Zharovikha and the railway bridge from the Kapitan Chadaev icebreaker. The works were aimed at preventing excessive ice load on the bridges substructures.

As a result of the enterprise's icebreakers work, the water area of the seaport of Arkhangelsk has been cleared of ice and is ready for the approach of the head of the floating ice. The measures carried out will help to avoid adverse consequences for the outskirts of the city, the infrastructure of the seaport and island territories from the impact of the ice drift.

During the ice drift, the icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” will be on duty and, if necessary, will help eliminate possible ice jams in the area of bridges and branches of the mouth of the Severnaya Dvina River.
