URSA MAJOR multifunctional vessel starts its first voyage on the Ust-Luga - Baltiysk line

On April 21, 2022, the URSA MAJOR multifunctional vessel set out on its first voyage on the route between Ust-Luga and Baltiysk. 8 units of rolling equipment and 10 forty-foot containers were sent from Baltiysk (seaport of Kaliningrad) to Ust-Luga on board of the vessel; 32 units of road trains are already planned to be sent in return.

Departure from Ust-Luga is scheduled for April 24, 2022. The vessel's schedule further assumes ship calls at least once a week to each of the seaports.

Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov got acquainted with the process of cargo operations and technical capabilities of the new vessel.

Governor visited the ferry complex in Baltiysk, got on board of the Ambal ferry, moored at the berth of the FSUE “Rosmorport” railway ferry complex, and on board of the URSA MAJOR motor vessel.

Andrey Moshkov, Head of the Kaliningrad department of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin branch, reported to the governor on the results of the ferry service between Ust-Luga and Baltiysk, as well as on the activities of FSUE “Rosmorport” to ensure the development of reliable sea connection between the region and the mainland of Russia.

The schedule and commercial conditions of transportation will soon be posted on the website of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

The URSA MAJOR motor vessel is a universal Ro-Ro/Lo-Lo class dry-cargo carrier (both horizontally and vertically loaded) designed for carrying various cargoes: general cargoes, including oversized ones, containers, heavy machinery, including cars. The vessel is equipped with two cranes with a lifting capacity of 350 tons each, which positions it as a Heavy Lift Cargo Vessel. The vessel has a speed of 14 knots. It is 142 m in length, 23 m in width, 7 m in draught.
