The icebreaker Novorossiysk of the FSUE "Rosmorport" has successfully completed the assistance of the bulk-carrier Radik Bashirov (Kamchatka Shipping Company) from Pevek eastward to clear water.

The vessel Radik Bashirov with a deadweight of more than 12 thousand tons provides cargo delivery to Kamchatka, Sakhalin and other areas of the Far East, including the seaport of Pevek.

Icebreaking assistance of the vessel from the water area of the seaport of Pevek took place in difficult ice conditions: ice concentration up to 30-40 cm thick reached 7 points, the situation was complicated by ice pressure and ice belts, formed as a result of prolonged wind exposure. In such conditions, independent movement of vessels to the seaports of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug without icebreaking assistance is limited.

Novorossiysk is currently the only icebreaker that provides icebreaking assistance of vessels on the Pevek — Cape Dezhnev shoulder in the Eastern Sector of the Arctics after the departure of the Vaigach nuclear icebreaker with a caravan in the western direction.

Earlier, Novorossiysk provided icebreaking assistance for the Fesco Paris motor vessel (FESCO Group) to the seaport of Pevek. The vessel delivered socially important cargo weighing almost 1,600 tons to the northernmost seaport of Russia.
