Onego shipyard began construction of the fifth live crab carrier for the "Russian Crab" Group

The keel-laying of the fifth crabcatcher of the 5712 LS design series took place on October 29 at the Onego shipyard. The vessel is being built by order of the largest Far Eastern crab company "Russian Crab", in total there are seven vessels in the series for catching and transporting live crab. Construction is being carried out within the framework of the investment quotas program.

The lead vessel of the series was laid down in June 2020, the next three - with an interval of several months. To date, the work has been completed on detailing the main technical solutions for the new storage system, the system for loading and unloading the crab at the head crab catcher. By the end of the year, it is planned to install a propulsion system, a rudder and a steering device, and reefers of the RSW system. Hull work is underway on serial vessels. In accordance with the requirements for the localization of vessel equipment for new crabcatchers, power supply systems, equipment for fuel systems, fire extinguishing systems, alarm systems, drinking water, as well as hull materials, cable products, paints and varnishes and hull saturation products of Russian production were selected.

The main technical characteristics of the project 5712 LS crab catcher: length - 57.70 m, width - 12.60 m, autonomy - 40 days, full speed - 12.6 knots, capacity for a live crab - 110-120 tons.
