FSUE "Rosmorport" announces a tender for the construction of an icebreaker with the capacity of 18 MW of Icebreaker7 ice-class (CPMI)

FSUE "Rosmorport" announced a tender for the construction of a linear diesel-electric icebreaker with the capacity of 18 MW of Icebreaker7 ice-class. Tender documentation for the project is available on the public procurement website. The icebreaker will be built within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan for Modernization and Expansion of the Trunk Infrastructure for the period until 2024.

Linear diesel-electric icebreaker of the 21900M2 project is designed to ensure year-round operation of freezing seaports in the Baltic basin. It is planned to complete the construction of the icebreaker in December 2024.

The purpose of the vessel is provision of independent icebreaking assistance for large-capacity vessels, towage of ships and other floating structures in ice and clean water, and provision of assistance for ships in distress. The vessel can be used to extinguish fires at floating facilities and other structures, ensure the effective operation of scientific expeditions, underwater and technical work, study the sea bottom, and carry out search and rescue operations. The vessel can participate in oil spill response operations, transport containers and other cargoes on the aft cargo deck and provide other special services at sea.

New icebreakers of the 21900M2 project are planned to be constructed on the basis of the 21900M project and the 21900М2 draft design developed by JSC "Vympel Design Bureau" at the expense of FSUE "Rosmorport" own funds, taking into account modern international convention requirements, including the reduction of harmful emissions from marine engines.
