Aleksandr Smirnov was appointed to the position of General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”. The corresponding order of Rosmorrechflot No. 100/k-mrf dated 02.03.2021 was signed by the head of the agency Andrei Lavrishchev. The decision was approved by the Central Office of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

The appointment of Aleksandr Smirnov was decided taking into account his significant management experience and knowledge of the specifics of the marine industry in Russia.

"I consider the completion of the preparation of FSUE “Rosmorport” for the upcoming corporatization our key objective. We also have to successfully implement and prevent deadlines for critical projects under the Integrated Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of Trunk Infrastructure from late delivery. Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Smirnov was born on November 30, 1958 in the city of Borovichi of Novgorod Region. In 1993 he graduated from St. Petersburg State University with a degree in law. His working career started in 1976.

Aleksandr Smirnov has extensive work experience in federal authorities and ministries of Russia, including his work in the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation in 2003-2008, in the Ministry of Justice as First Deputy Minister of Justice of Russia in 2009-2014, and in the Central Office of the Government of the Russian Federation in 2014-2017 in 2014-2017.

In December 2017, he began working at FSUE “Rosmorport” as Deputy General Director for Relations with Executive Authorities. During the entire period of his work at FSUE “Rosmorport”, he repeatedly temporarily acted as Director General.

Since January 2021, in accordance with the order of Rosmorrechflot, he has been appointed the General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” without being relieved of his current position.
