Icebreaker Vladivostok started operating in the Gulf of Finland

The icebreaker Vladivostok joined the icebreaking group of FSUE “Rosmorport” in the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea. The icebreaker provides pilotage of vessels on the approach channels to the Big Port Saint Petersburg. It is one of the newest icebreakers of the enterprise.

Vladivostok is an 18 MW diesel-electric icebreaker and the lead vessel of the 21900M project. The icebreaker was built at the Vyborg Shipyard.

The FSUE "Rosmorport" icebreaker group in the Gulf of Finland consists of 6 linear and 6 port icebreakers. In January, in order to strengthen the group, the linear icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn arrived at the Big Port Saint Petersburg.

During the winter period 2020-2021, FSUE “Rosmorport” began to provide pilotage of first vessels from December 7. The icebreaking group of FSUE “Rosmorport” is the largest icebreaking group in the world. In total, the enterprise fleet includes 36 icebreakers and icebreaker tugs of various capacities which provide pilotage services in 15 freezing seaports of Russia.
