FSUE “Rosmorport” announced a tender competition for the construction of a linear diesel-electric icebreaker of Icebreaker7 ice class with capacity of 18 MWatt. Tender documentation for the project is available on the public procurement website. The icebreaker will be built within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan for the modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure for the period until 2024.

The linear diesel-electric icebreaker of the 21900М2 project is designed to ensure year-round operation of the freezing seaports of the North-Western Basin.

In September 2019, FSUE Rosmorport signed a contract with Pella OJSC for the construction of a similar vessel for the Far Eastern Basin.

It is planned to build new icebreakers of the 21900М2 project on the basis of the previously developed design documentation of the vessel under construction 21900М and preliminary design of the 21900М2 developed by JSC KB Vympel at the expense of FSUE “Rosmorport” own funds, taking into account modern international convention requirements, including those aimed at reduction of harmful emissions of ship engines.
