FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic shift opens in Artek Children’s Center

The FSUE “Rosmorport” partner’s shift “The Sea – Romanticism – Profession” opened at the Artek International Children’s Center on August 10, 2019. Fifty winners of the All-Russian contest “My Port” came to the center to study Russia’s maritime history and get to know the traditions and specifics of naval professions.

The National Flag of the Russian Federation, the colors of the Artek Children’s Center, the Ozerny center and the FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic shift were hauled at a solemn assembly under the national anthem of the Russian Federation.

Children were given FSUE “Rosmorport” branded equipment and work-books designed especially for participants in the shift “The Sea – Romanticism – Profession”.

This year the ninth shift in the Artek center was called “Artek robinsonade”. The major idea of the shift is the spiritual and intellectual development of children, and their introduction into healthy lifestyle. Daniel Defoe novel “Robinson Crusoe” became a symbol of the shift. The hero of the novel became an example of courage, hard work and self-belief for many generations of boys and girls from different countries.

Over three weeks, the participants in the shift will study the basics of the naval profession. Interesting interactive classes, master classes aboard the FSUE “Rosmorport” Khersones sailing ship, entertainment games and quizzes wait for the children. As part of practical studies the children will learn to make sails, handle boats and yachts, and bend reef knots.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Cup sea regatta will be the key event of the educational program. Last year the competition took place for the first time. This is the excellent possibility for the children to demonstrate their skills gotten in the Artek Center Children’s Sea Flotilla educational program.
