Environmental protection leading specialist of the FSUE “Rosmorport” department of navigation support E.P. Smetaninа and chief of environmental protection sector of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Vostochny branch I.V. Baukov took part in theoretical and practical seminar “Liquidation of oil spillage: emergency planning, availability engineering and reaction. Standard requirements and operational experience”, which was held on the 15 and 16 of April , 2010 in Saint-Petersburg.

Representatives of the Government of Saint-Petersburg, administrations of seaports, oil companies, organizations rendering services on liquidation of oil spillage, educational institutions, Russian and foreign companies producing the equipment for liquidation of oil spillage were among participants of the seminar.

The seminar was organized by the State Marine Academy named after Admiral S.O. Makarov with support of Federal Service for the Oversight of Transport and Northwest Regional Centre of EMERCOM of Russia.

During the discussion questions of legal support of availability engineering for liquidation of oil spillage, certification of professional and out-of-staff rescue teams were considered. Special attention was paid to problems of development, coordination and approval of plans of liquidation of oil spillage.
