Results of the sea expedition of training sailing boats to the area of Tsushima Island reviewed at the meeting in Vladivostok

On December 10, 2021, a meeting was held in the Vladivostok City Duma further to the sea expedition of the training sailing boats Nadezhda and Pallada to the area of Tsushima Island.

The event, which was held under the leadership of Andrey Brik, Chairman of the Vladivostok City Duma, was attended by Igor Glukhov, Deputy Director for Navigation Safety of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch, and Sergey Vorobyov, captain of the Nadezhda training sailing boat.

The meeting was also attended by Nikolay Zorchenko, captain of the Pallada, representatives of the Vladivostok City Duma, MSU named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoy, Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains, FSBI “Administration of Primorsky Krai and the Eastern Arctic”.

Sergey Vorobyov, captain of the Nadezhda, made a video report on the sailing voyage and the solemn ceremony, held by the crew and cadets, of setting afloat a commemorative wreath in honor of the sailors who died in the Battle of Tsushima in 1905.

During the meeting participants discussed the possibility of holding a race of large sailing vessels along the route La Perouse Strait - Peter the Great Gulf and organizing a festival of large sailing vessels as part of the celebration of the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great. They also reviewed preparations for the reception of the Mir training sailing boat which is going to call at the seaport of Vladivostok during its planned circumnavigation.

At the end of the meeting Sergey Vorobyov, captain of the Nadezhda, was rewarded with a letter of gratitude from the Vladivostok City Duma.
