Cadets of the Nadezhda sailing boat to pay tribute to the memory of sailors who died in the Battle of Tsushima

On November 9, 2021, a commemorative wreath was handed over to cadets of the Nadezhda training sailing boat to be sent out to the Sea of Japan. After leaving the seaport of Vladivostok on November 11, the sailing boat is planned to deliver the wreath to the site of the battle between the 2nd Pacific Squadron and the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Tsushima Strait.

A solemn event was attended by Evgeniy Pankratov, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch, representatives of the Vladivostok City Duma, MSU named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoy and the Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains.

“FSUE “Rosmorport”, being an enterprise of the maritime industry, is interested in high-professional training of personnel and, together with specialized universities, develops and implements training programs for your specialists and their sailing practice. Every year more than 2,500 cadets undergo practical training on the vessels of the enterprise", Evgeniy Pankratov said. He wished the cadets to choose their speciality deliberately and to be imbued with the spirit of maritime traditions.

The event was held with musical accompaniment by the branch orchestra. At the end of the event, flowers were laid in front of the monument to the heroes of the Battle of Tsushima.
