Members of the Belaya Trost School visit the sailing boat Nadezhda
On October 10, 2021, a group of students of the school for the visually impaired and the blind “Belaya Trost” visited the training sailing boat Nadezhda of the FSUE "Rosmorport" Far Eastern Basin Branch.
The guests on board of the sailing boat wanted to get acquainted with the maritime profession all by themselves, through tactile perception.
After the safety briefing, each participant of the event was accompanied by a cadet who played the role of a guide throughout his or her stay on the sailing boat.
The captain's assistant for studies and educational work Alexander Tsymbal conducted an exciting excursion around the vessel and recalled the history of the sailing boat and its interesting adventures.
The invited guests took part in classes on knitting sea knots, putting on safety belts and life jackets. All actions involved tactile perception. At the end of the training, the guests were able to independently participate in competitions for the speed and correctness of knitting sea knots and putting on safety belts. The winners of the competition were awarded with prizes.
Also, specially for the guests - participants of the event, a sail was fixed on the vessel, and they could touch it in order to understand what material is used for its manufacture.
The excursion ended with a lunch onboard, after which each guest was presented with a commemorative sign of visiting the sailing boat Nadezhda.
