Far Eastern Basin Branch takes part in international environmental forum “Nature without Borders”

The Nature without Borders XII international environmental forum was held in Vladivostok, in the building of the Primorye Territory Administration, on October 18-19, 2018.

The forum is held annually to attract attention of the Russian and world public to environmental problems and to forming a common policy in the field of environmental protection and rational nature management in the Asia Pacific Region.

Key issues raised at the forum were devoted to developing complex water resources management and working out systems of specially protected natural areas, issues related to improving and modernizing waste and secondary resource treatment systems in Russia and discussions on new tendencies in environmental protection state control and environmental security.

Head of the environmental security department of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch Oksana Sotnikova spoke at a round-table meeting on the development of complex water resources management. She told the participants in the meeting about problems related to environmental security in the seaports of Primorye Territory. She noted the branch’s contribution to clean-up operations carried out in the Peter the Great Bay.

The forum was also attended by adviser for legal and property issues to the director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch, Viktoria Burenko, who spoke about legal aspects of water relations dispute resolution.

The proposals put forth by the participants in the forum to resolve major national environmental problems and cooperation of the Asia Pacific region countries in environmental security were included in a final resolution.
