Far Eastern Basin Branch starts reconstructing berths in the seaport of Vostochny

Pursuant to Rosmorrechflot Resolution No. 78-RU78131000-НЖ-39/27-2018 of July 4, 2018 FSUE “Rosmorport” has been issued a permit for reconstructing Berth No. 34 and Berth No. 35, an approach canal toward Berths No. 31-35 and a water area of Berth No. 34 and Berth No. 35 in the seaport of Vostochny.

Under this project, the following measures are due to be taken:
- to construct mooring pawls;
- to replace fenders on Berth No. 34 and Berth No. 35;
- to carry out dredging operations to the mark -12.5 meters of operational water areas of Berth No. 34 and Berth. No 35 and an approach canal toward Berths No. 31-35 that will facilitate regular mooring and handling of cargoes at Berth No. 34 and Berth No. 35 of SN-30 design vessels with the length of 185 meters, the breadth of 30 meters and load draught of 9 meters and SN-20 vessels of 140 meters in length, 25 meters in breadth and 8.5 meters in load draught.

Under this capital investment project, coal transshipment turnover in the seaport of Vostochny will increase up to three million tons per year.

According to the established procedure public discussions were held earlier. They are related to project documentation, including materials on the environment impact assessment. Based on these results the public opinion has revealed no negative positions and no negative image in this aspect. No remarks and proposals have been made (a protocol was adopted by the administration of the Nakhodka city district on May 13, 2015). Project documentation obtained a positive conclusion from the Environmental Impact Assessment expert commission on December 29, 2015. Project documentation has been approved by Russia’s Federal Agency for Oversight of Natural Resource Usage Order No. 1058 of December 29, 2015. The results of engineering researches and project documentation also obtained Environmental Impact Assessment Positive Conclusion No. 1067-7/ГГЭ-10764/04 and it has been approved by FAI “Glavgosexpertiza Rossii”.

The works aimed at reconstructing facilities of the port infrastructure will be carried out in several stages and they are planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
