Start of icebreaker support for vessels in the seaport of Vanino and on the approaches toward it in the Tatar Strait

Under Resolution No. 346/A of December 16, 2019 taken by the captain of the seaport of Vanino, icebreaker support for vessels started in the water area of the seaport of Vanino and on the approaches toward it on January 1, 2020 and restrictions on ice navigation were introduced.

Pursuant to the plan for deploying icebreakers for the period of icebreaker support in 2019-2020 in freezing ports of the Russian Federation, icebreaker support will be provided by the Novorossiysk icebreaker of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch. The icebreaker will be under operational control of the Vanino Branch.

If required, the Beringov Proliv multifunctional rescue vessel of FBSI “Marine Rescue Service” Sakhalin Branch will be used in addition to the Novorossiysk operation.

At present, the Novorossiysk icebreaker, which is currently deployed in the seaport of Vladivostok, completes preparatory works by stock replenishment to move to the place of destination and further work in the seaport of Vanino.
