Decision to Enlarge Vanino Seaport

According to the Order of the Government of Russia dd 13.03.2017 No. 435-r a decision to enlarge Vanino Seaport by means of inclusion of the land parcels intended for the construction of the sea terminal with the capacity of 24 mln tons a year, and located on the North coast territory of the Muchka Bay of the Vaninsky District of the Khabarovsk Krai was taken.

The project to build a handling complex for coal handling is implemented by LLC “Sakha (yakutskaya) Trnasportnaya Companiya” and FSUE “Rosmorport” under the scope of the joint investment project on the North coast of the Muchka Bay.

A sea terminal is expected to be constructed in Vanino Seaport which will comprise: two berths for coal handling; a section with a port fleet berth; root area with coastal protection; bulk cargo complex; bulk fuel installations; railroad facilities and administration building.

As far as organization's obligations are concerned the dredging operations on the operational waters of the berths No.1 and No.2 are expected to be performed in two stages as part of the projects in Vanino Seaport. At the first stage bed level is to be up to -19,3 meters on the area of 28,7 hectares, at the second stage a bed level is to be up to -21,2 meters on the area of 33,7 hectares to provide navigation depths for safe approach and mooring of the SN-163, SN-115, SN-70 and SN-40 type vessels. Also, the organization is planning to set up an anchoring station with the area of 10,9 sq.km with the bed points of -21 ~ -30 meters to provide safe station for the vessels as well as the installation of marine light on the pier and 6 floating beacon buoys.

The project to be implemented and planned for the period from 2018 to 2021 will allow to create a modern sea terminal for coal handling which will provide coal handling with the volume of 12 mln tons at the first stage (till 2020) and upon full development (till 2021) – 24 mln tons.

The decision taken will not only enhance the development of the port infrastructure of the Khabarovsk Krai and create additional work places but either encourage the development of the Russian coal market as well as the increase of the volume of its export to the Asia-Pacific Region countries.
