The volume of cargo transportation on the Ust-Luga Seaport – Kaliningrad seaport line is increasing

As part of the transport support of the Kaliningrad Region, the North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" continues to provide services for the sea transportation of critically needed cargo to the region on the Ust-Luga Seaport – Kaliningrad Seaport line. In 2023, the strategically important sea ferry line shows positive dynamics both in terms of the number of voyages and the volume of cargo transportation.

Since the beginning of the year, the company's vessels have completed 172 voyages and transported 602 thousand tons of cargo, including 6.1 thousand wagons (loaded and empty), 6.2 thousand units of rolling equipment, 7.9 thousand tons of general cargo, 10.7 thousand of TEU (loaded and empty containers). In particular, the number of monthly voyages performed by the company's vessels on the line, has increased by 25 % since January 2023, and the monthly volume of transported cargo has increased to 120 thousand tons per month.

Currently, two modern railway sea ferries, Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky, built and commissioned by FSUE "Rosmorport" in 2022, as well as two leased multifunctional vessels, Sparta and Sparta II, are operating on the Ust-Luga Seaport – Kaliningrad Seaport line, which carry out transportation to the optional seaport of arrival – the seaport Big Port St. Petersburg.

Sparta and Sparta II vessels allows transporting cargo in containers, rolling equipment, general and oversized cargo at the same time. Taking into account the needs of the ferry line's customers, from May 19, 2023, 45-foot containers are also accepted by the company for transportation on the vessels Sparta and Sparta II.
