The current year in Russia is declared the year of science and technology. In this regard, and also in order to implement the program objectives of the Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development to 2030, launched in early 2021 under the auspices of the UN General Assembly, it is planned to held the V International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of the Study and Preservation of the Maritime Heritage" from October 5 to 8, 2021 on the basis of the World Ocean Museum in Kaliningrad.

The North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" is the official information partner of the conference and plans to take an active part in this event.

The purpose of the conference, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Maritime College under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Maritime Heritage Association, is to exchange the experience of specialists involved in the study, preservation and popularization of the maritime heritage, expand cooperation between museums and scientific organizations, as well as present the results of scientific research in museum works.

The conference will allow museum and scientific communities to come closer to understanding the scale of the maritime heritage, identify current problems in the field of its study, conservation and popularization, and outline ways to solve them.

Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to discuss other relevant issues, including for port industry organizations, related to:
- history and modern trends in the field of shipbuilding and shipping;
- maritime training and education;
- the implementation of conservation and restoration of underwater heritage sites;
- the implementation of technologies for the preservation, study and representation of maritime heritage.
