Built artificial land plot in the seaport of Ust-Luga put into operation

In accordance with the permission of Rosmorrechflot No. 47-RU47407202-ZD-39/68-2020 of 16.11.2020, the created artificial land plot with the area of 5.5 hectares was put into operation in the seaport of Ust-Luga.

The construction of the artificial land plot was carried out from July to December 2008 as part of a project aimed at creation of the water area of the southern part of the seaport of Ust-Luga.

FSUE “Rosmorport” acted as the customer of the construction, and its financing was carried out at the expense of federal budget investments.

The territory of the artificial land plot was created by means of the aggradation of soil suitable for the creation of the territory during dredging works in the southern region of the water area of the seaport of Ust-Luga.

The artificial land plot is designed to accommodate the coastal structures under construction on the base of the supporting fleet in the seaport of Ust-Luga. The base of the supporting fleet in the seaport of Ust-Luga is designed for the anchoring and maintenance of vessels of the port fleet (tugboats, pilot vessels, oil collectors, boom-laying boats, etc.), the collection and neutralization of waste from vessels entering the seaport of Ust-Luga, as well as monitoring and elimination of oil spills. The project provides for the construction of a complex for the thermal destruction (neutralization) of waste, commissioning of which will reduce the likelihood of dumping vessel waste into the waters of the Gulf of Finland.

Functioning of the supporting fleet base in the seaport of Ust-Luga, some of the objects of which are located on the artificial land plot, will provide a qualitatively new level of environmental safety in the seaport and environmental protection of the Luga Bay and the adjacent territories of the Leningrad Region.
