North-Western Basin Branch released young trout

On December 10, 2020, the North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" released young trout into Lake Ladoga (Vladimirskaya Bay) in the presence of representatives of state supervisory bodies.

Over 3.7 thousand trout specimens with average weight of more than 75 grams were grown at the request of the North-Western Basin Branch by a specialized fish-breeding plant.

This release was performed within the framework of environmental protection measures to compensate for the damage to aquatic bioresources and their habitat caused in 2019 during repair dredging operations in the waters of seaports of Big Port St. Petersburg and Passenger Port St. Petersburg.

The expenses of the North-Western Basin Branch for the cultivation and release of this batch of young trout amounted to more than 1.8 million rubles.

With this release, the North-Western Basin Branch has completed a series of six releases of young fish grown at the request of the Branch as part of its 2020 compensation program. This year almost 271 thousand specimens of young trout, salmon and Baltic whitefish were released into the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, Lake Ladoga, and the Neva River.
