Release of young Atlantic salmon into Neva River

In furtherance of the environmental measures taken by the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch to compensate damage caused to water bioresources and their habitat in 2018 during dredging operations in the water area of the southern area of the seaport of Ust-Luga over 10.000 samples of young Atlantic salmon have been released to the Neva River of the Baltic Sea basin. This event was attended by representatives of supervisory agencies and held on the night of May 19, 2020.

Young Atlantic salmon with the average weight of over 40 grams has been produced and released to the water body by order of the North-Western Basin Branch by efforts of the specialized fish farm.

The branch spent over six million Rubles to take these compensatory measures.

This is the first release of young fish by the North-Western Basin Branch in 2020. Throughout the year over 101 million Rubles are planned to be spent to produce young Atlantic salmon and trout that will allow to make six releases within the compensatory measures program.
