Practical training for sample collection of dangerous substances content from vessels

Participants in a seminar “The Inventory of Dangerous Substances on Ships” took part in practical training in the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch on January 30, 2020. Practical training has been held on the initiative of SCF Management Services (St Petersburg) LLC.

The event also involved representatives of the DNV GL Group AS international classification society.

During the training, the participants in the seminar carried out training procedures for collecting samples on dangerous substances content from vessels for their consequent laboratory studies and examination.

Such training is indispensable because from December 31, 2020 vessels with gross capacity of 500 and more and navigating under the non-EU flags caling at seaports and anchor stations of EU countries also must keep records of dangerous substances aboard the vessel.

In order to organize practical training, the North-Western Basin Branch provides the Mudyug icebreaker to the participants in the seminar. At present, the icebreaker is in the seaport of Big Port St Petersburg awaiting the start of navigation.
