Dredging operations start in the seaport of Ust Luga

The FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch started carrying out scheduled dredging operations in the water area of the seaport of Ust Luga on June 15, 2019. The operations are carried out to implement a project on the facility “The Water Area of the Southern District of the Seaport of Ust Luga”.

At present, the operations are carried out by FSUE “Rosmorport” own dredging equipment – the WAKA NAMI GO cutter-head (backhoe) dredger. The Usva barge is used to carry soil to the disposal area. The Kronshlot suction hopper dredge and the Rabochaya trailing suction hold dredge of the North-Western Basin Branch are expected to arrive in July.

Under the project, in 2019 a total of 747.97 cubic meters of bottom soil are expected to be extracted and carried to the areas of disposal. FSUE “Rosmorport” dredging equipment is planning to extract a total of 247.97 thousand cubic meters of bottom soil. Another 500 thousand cubic meters of bottom soil are expected to be extracted by using equipment of a contracting organization, which will be determined based on the results of a contest.

From July to December 2019 the branch is also planning to carry out repair dredging operations in the amount of 46.5 thousand cubic meters in order to keep project seabed levels in the water area and channels of the seaport of Ust Luga.

All dredging operations are carried out by the North-Western Basin Branch in strict compliance with the approved documentation on environmental feasibility to maintain project seabed levels in water areas, channels and fairways of the seaport of Ust Luga.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch renders dredging services to all concerned organizations on the contract base given free technical means at operational waters of berths, in the areas of anchoring stations and particular locations of the water areas of the seaports of Big Port Saint Petersburg, Vyborg, Vysotsk, Kaliningrad, Passenger Port Saint Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust Luga.
