Employees of the Kaliningrad Department of the North-Western Basin Branch invited by FSBIC “Museum of the World Ocean”, participated in ceremonial events dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Russian submarine fleet.

Head of the Kaliningrad Department of the North-Western Basin Branch Andrey Moshkov made a commemorative speech in honor of hero submariners.

The ceremonial events were also attended by cadets of Kaliningrad naval colleges.

The Submariner Day is a professional holiday, annually celebrated on March 19 by military and civilian personnel of the submarine forces of the Russian Navy.

The holiday dates back to the event that happened on March 19 (by the Old Style calendar, on March 6), 1906, when by the decree of Emperor Nicholas II a new class of warships – submarines — was included in the classification of naval vessels, and 10 submarines were included in the Russian fleet.
